Rugged yet simple; our take on the field watch fuses exquisite craftsmanship with bold, modern design in a package which is understated yet unique. The range of six take inspiration from the Scottish Highlands
Whether it be deep broody sunsets or heather on the hills, no highland palette would be complete without purple. Realised in enamel, the colour is rich and fruity with a fine pigment texture, a serendipitous consequence of this brilliant enamel blend.
At the heart of the Model 2 is the vitreous (or grand feu) enamel dial, made in-house by one of our three enamellers, each taking a minimum of 12 hours and many years of experience to complete.
Our enamelling studio has been operating since 2015, 3 years before the first anOrdain went on sale, and is now housed in a purpose built facility in the East End of Glasgow, UK.
A substantial bezel and crown guard make the Model 2 rugged and robust whilst preventing snagging.
The 36mm diameter and sumptuous contours ensure comfort for any wrist size, and the double domed sapphire crystal with 6 layers of anti-reflective coating showcase the enamel dial. The case is rated waterproof to 50m.
The hands we’ve designed are unlike any others you’ll find on a watch, with the body elegantly holding the luminous tips, much in the way a hand holds a fountain pen.
Their creation really showcases the manufacturing skills and expertise of two different firms in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Stamping a hair’s width gap where the needle extends back into the void of the hand, and then individually hand painting the needles is something no other manufacturers were able to do.
Like the watch itself, the Model 2 typeface is more rugged and robust than its Model 1 cousin. Our typographer took cues from 1950s industrial equipment to develop the Model 1 typeface into the new font you now see on the dial.
Driven by a hand-wound Swiss Sellita movement, the daily ritual of hand winding the Model 2 seems to suit it perfectly.
When choosing a movement there are several things we look for: accuracy, reliability, and long-term serviceability. The SW210 is the hand-winding version of the SW 200-1 or the ETA 2824, and as such is possibly the most tried and tested Swiss movement in production, and one familiar to and easily serviced by virtually any watchmaker.
Having an in-house watchmaker and producing each watch individually means we can regulate the movement to suit your individual needs - simple things like knowing which wrist the watch will be worn on and how it’s stored at night allows us to increase the stock accuracy of the movement.
As with all anOrdain watches, the Model 2 comes with a 5 year, fully transferable guarantee.
