The second outing of our in-house porcelain, the Model 1 is the culmination of three years of development, with research aided by master potters in Stoke-on-Trent. Each dial is made by our porcelain artist, Cara Louise, using traditional hand tools and processes, from the initial mould-making to the final high-temperature glaze firing. As a result, each dial has a uniquely textured surface, meaning no two are alike.

Fully made in-house, from press-moulding to firing. The Model 1 Porcelain dial features a specially formulated and high-fired off-white glaze.

The bespoke numerals evoke the fine pointed strokes made by a calligraphy pen or engraver, designed by renowned typographer Kia Tasbihgou, and echoed in the thermally-blued handset.

Blue and white print has a long history in ceramics: from the kilns of Yuan and Ming dynasty China, through the Delftware and Azulejos of early modern Europe, to the willow pattern revival of 18th-century Britain. Watch our film 'Blue on White' to discover more.
