SECURE A BUILD SLOT

All our watches are made by hand, here in our Glasgow workshop. The techniques our small team employ are highly skilled and time-intensive, and enamelling is no exception. Our commitment to doing things properly, and charging fairly for it, has resulted in greater demand than we can supply. Since 2021 we’ve operated a first-come-first-served waiting list for our enamel watches, and have found this the best overall system. 

You can secure a future production slot by paying a non-refundable reservation fee, which is deducted from the final price of your watch. The reservation is for building a watch, rather than a specific model, as there will be more to choose from when your slot comes up. We will also endeavour to keep our existing models available in future: for more information on availability see our core models page. 

As your slot approaches, we'll invite you to confirm your model and specifications, and pay the remaining balance, guided by our team throughout. Please note, build slots are not currently required for our porcelain pieces.

Our debut watch was designed to showcase its vitreous enamel dial. Each one has been the sole focus of our in-house enamellers, from cutting the copper blank to the final printing, taking a minimum of 12 hours and years of experience to complete. 

For the design language, we looked to cartography for inspiration – finding old maps of the Scottish Highlands to encapsulate the detail, precision and craft of the brand’s ethos. This inspiration informed the two styles of bespoke numerals, as well as the hands, which resemble traditional compass needles.

The vibrant feathers of the Eurasian Teal, which gave the colour its name, have long been prized in the craft of fly-fishing ties and lures, and Loch an Ordain is, fittingly, known for its fishing.

A choice of hand-wound Sellita SW210, automatic La Joux-Perret G101, or the A1, our version of the G101. After assembly, we regulate the movement to suit your individual needs. Simple things like knowing which wrist you will wear it on can increase their accuracy.

Our watchmakers applied themselves to master the craft of heat tempering steel. The hands are individually polished, then carefully heat-treated to an even and consistent straw-coloured finish.

Details

The A1 – our first decorated movement – was a collaboration with Glasgow-based artist Rachel Duckhouse. To start with, we asked what a traditional calibre – designed in the 1950s – might have looked like if modern decorative processes had been available. The answer saw us interpret Rachel’s pen and ink drawings with laser-engraving, multi-axis machining and advanced galvanic treatments, testing the capabilities of some of Switzerland’s top suppliers. Read more about the collaboration here.
